London 2012 OLYMPICS
I was lucky enough to have a guest pass to visit the USVI Olympic team in the Village at the end of their competitions. Pictured together in the village with Hans Lawaetz and Lyn Reid, the President and Vice President of the VIOC along with Senator Ronald Russell who was in London to support the athletes! It gave me a sneaky preview of the Village - very impressive - but most of all it was great to meet up with everyone and share their experiences of the Olympics - a special day!
All this on top of being in London to watch the record breaking test of Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro in the kur - a truly inspirational day and I will be going into the arena with that uppermost in my mind. There can be no doubts about it - having the Olympics - and now the Paralympics - here in London - so so close - has really brought a buzz to the place. The atmosphere in the stadium was both electric and sensitive - all 20,000+ people keeping as still as can be while each rider rode thru their music routine - it was spellbinding - I am sure all the superlatives have been used time and time again but...
My training carries on - and thankful for the support of TR Fastenings PLC I have been able to do more concentrated sessions with Andrew which are really paying dividends! We may always hope that we had another month before the Games - or another month beyond that - obviously training is not a finite thing but I am thankful for the time I have had with Andrew and Rhapsody so far! There is still training time while we are in Greenwich and once there and able to focus completely I hope we will be putting the final layers in place!
No competitions this month - I decided to stay in my training bubble - it is difficult - when reading comments on Facebook and Twitter from other competitors - not to panic that I should be doing XYZ - like they are - but equally I felt totally justified in keeping to our plan with Rhapsody - time will tell but you can only do what feels right so there will be no recriminations whatever the outcome! SO LONDON HERE WE COME xx
