Only 6 weeks till Hartpury... the 2 para competitions last weekend gave me food for thought - I cannot fault Pip who - in gale force winds at Hickstead on Monday - that would have seen Brodie carting me to Brighton - was on fine form and filled me with another dose of confidence with his temperament - suitably matched of course by his ability! But several comments by the judge made me re-assess our aims in the short term. It was a shame that with two days of para competitions comprising four tests - we had the same judge for them all. Judging is always going to be subjective but I had hoped to gain some constructive feedback from more than one person with the effort and expense of 4 texts over 2 days. Something for the organisers to consider maybe? Anyway we continue to plan, train and work towards Hartpury - the entries are in and I (with a little help from my friends) am trying to put together a freestyle program. Listening to Brodie's music leaves me a little dejected - his music worked so well from start to finish - maybe it is just that I am so familiar with it but we will patch something together - the individual pieces of music work well so hopefully it will all come together - like a jigsaw. Many more hours needed on the computer me thinks!! But for a little light relief - a comp at Pachesham on Sunday to rebuild a few low morale bridges and - to have some fun - that is after all what the game is all about after all - isn't it!!??!!

Well I DID say tall!! But the main news is at our second competition last week at Hickstead - jumping up a level to medium tests - Pip was once again the perfect gentleman and, like the pro he is proving to be, gave two more promising performances - we came second in both tests. But for some silly rider (me!) errors - which I will put down to lack of practice to save my blushes - he would have definitely won the medium 71! Still we couldn't have been more pleased as Pip is showing us how relaxed he is in a competition situation which only goes to boost my confidence in him more and more. I am waiting for Andrew to return from the States and look forward to his view on how we have been progressing since he last saw us - meanwhile Miranda has been keeping us - well me mainly - on the straight and narrow in our training and improvements are being made with each session. Also I have started to work on some music ideas for Pip - there is no way Brodie's music suits his paces although I am trying to fit in my "theme tune" - Walking on Sunshine... work in progress at the moment but with Hartpury looming I am keen to make a start on our freestyle program! |
