Really the main thing for me in April was it heralded the last payment for Rhapsody... after 16 months of installments he is finally mine. For some reason it was a huge relief - mostly because the financial strain had been pretty difficult through times of redundancy and temping jobs but now that is over!
A couple of competitions through the month brought mixed results - a great day at Hickstead with very solid performance in the medium - and then 2 weeks later Patchetts was a different story. People may say "well that's horses for you" but in this case I think it is more like - well that's riders for you!! With Rhapsody's vastly improved way of going I have to be careful not to revert to old (and bad) habits but rather keep my riding more subtle. Always hard to learn lessons like that when at a competition but at least it focuses the mind. And so - with both Ellie Martin and Gill Maybury giving the thumbs up this week to our saddle fit and Rhapsody's physiology we can confidently press on with our work..
After feeling anxious last month about the lack of information coming through about WEG there has been a complete turn around in the last week or so and now the form filing and paper shuffling begins! First on the list - booking accommodation... Decision time!!
Next month... more training - more competitions - and the first of our fundraisers towards transport costs for Rhapsody to Normandy!
