The big news of the month is that Simple System Horse Feeds have come on board as sponsors... Rhapsody has been on their feeding regime since he first arrived in May 2012 and I was so impressed with how he - in a short 3 months - built up muscle, strength and stamina during the intensive training that was necessary to get us both to London 2012! Even during competition days and despite the volume of work we were doing, he came out with great enthusiasm with plenty of sparkle without any craziness. He continues to thrive - and look a picture on their feed and I am delighted that they have agreed to support us this year! Read more on their website

We also had our first show since last October - a para competition at Berkshire College. Conditions were very very windy and although the test was indoors we warmed up outdoors - albeit on a great surface - given the amount of rain we have been having. It was worth the drive just to give Rhaps a good schooling session but an added bonus - we won!! Competitions at this moment in time are not actually about winning as I am treating them a training aid - endeavouring to get the quality of work that we have during training in a competition setting - with the added ingredients of distractions (a loose pony cantering up and down the road by the warm up for example as at Berkshire College!) nerves, new venues etc etc. But of course a win is always welcome and a great confidence boost at the start of the season!!
The following week Rhaps went over to Kent to stay with Andrew and luck was on his side when the weather proved kinder than forecast! More progress with his training - improving all the time - most definitely exciting times... and then the realisation that the World Equestrian Games is now only SIX MONTHS away!
Still plenty to do - it is getting busy - fund raising being on the list as the costs start to escalate while we plan more competitions... next one on the 2nd March... more next month!!
