I can't wait for the next competition!!
Hartpury 3* International has come and gone in a flash and has left me agonising over mis-takes, missed marks and missed opportunities but on the positive side WE GOT OUR 2012 QUALIFYING SCORE! That of course was the main aim and all the rest will have to go down as a learning curve. That said I cannot fault Pip - his attitude and temperament were brilliant - flawless even - he was the complete professional who knew his job - loved the crowds and attention - and throughout the three days of competition he and I climbed up a level in our trust and 'connection' - sounds a bit corny but the concentrated focus during this time really enabled us to make huge improvements - also fueled by the high standard of competition - everyone was raising their game as the stakes are so high. So - aided by my hardworking supporters and 'crew' of Catherine and Jane along with the invaluable presence of Miranda who took time out of her busy teaching schedule to be there and help me in the preparations and warm up before the competitions - I was able to enjoy the luxury of considerable back up and assistance this year. Just as well as I was struggling with a chesty cold and confined to sleeping in the lorry most days to conserve my strength. The girls were brilliant and their efforts did not go unnoticed - assisted by the presence of dear little Crosby - our mascot - who became one of the stars of the show with the supporters. I think that everyone knew Crosby by name by the end of the week - he even had a date each evening for a 'run' around the grounds at Hartpury! So I guess for a number of reasons we will have made an impression this year at Hartpury - and Hartpury made an impression on me - a good point to progress from -
I can't wait for the next competition!!
