No doubt about it - it has been a quiet month. Yes - another one... but Rhaps and I have carried on working and keeping fit - and am now also adjusting to the new daily schedule of riding before work for the foreseeable future - well past March at least anyway! I have been intrigued by the increasing amount of social media posts regarding Rio, sponsorship, horse power, and more sponsorship... There is no doubt that the big countries/names are already making considerable plans for Rio - indeed the accommodation requests were supposed to be in to the organising committee a little while ago - seriously?? Who knows who will qualify...
Qualifying starts in January 2015 and as far as I am concerned it is once again down to being in the top 2 individuals on the rankings list after the teams are taken out of the equation. It cannot be easy for the competitors in North & South America to make these qualifications - as far as the provisional FEI calendar stands at the moment it looks like there is only one show next year over there. I expect to see a lot more nations choosing to bring their teams across to Europe for the competitions, qualifying points and experience. I read on the USA Para dressage site that they cited Canada's successes at WEG to their team being in Europe during the run up to gain valuable experience and match practice - something that is not so widely available for them in North America.
We shall see what next year brings. as far as future international competitions go - for now Rhaps and I are at Pachesham tomorrow for our first competition since WG!!
Just seen the time...and that its the first of November tomorrow - eek!! A trip to the VI planned in Jan/Feb and three international competitions in GB next year... am best keeping busy!! :-) xxxx
