Rhapsody and I did a local BD competition at the end of October - I was very pleased with his first outing since WEG and our first affiliated medium. I have been working on sitting Rhap's trot over the past few months so that we can progress up the levels. and was relieved not to receive any negative comments on our trot work! Third place was OK - the plan was to get out during these difficult winter months for some variety and practice.
I was also looking forward to a day off from work to ride Rhaps in a couple of para tests but torrential rain during the night - and all through the morning meant that I did not feel very confident about the ground conditions in the outdoor arenas - it was not worth risking injury to Rhapsody and reluctantly withdrew...
It would be easy to use the winter weather as an excuse not to compete till the spring but instead will try and get to some indoor shows and keep up the momentum!
I do have a little break to look forward to though... a trip back to the Virgin Islands in January is on the cards. Will be great to see my family but also to catch up with Regine - she has been to so many meetings and conventions/workshops recently in her dual role as President of the Virgin Islands Equestrian Association and the VI National Paralympic Committee. It will be interesting to hear what progress is being made on the islands as everyones thoughts turn to Rio.
On a different note... Rhapsody's Facebook page now has a new name.. dropping the "road to WEG" brings us bang up to date and ready for what ever we aim for next!!
