![]() Hans Lawaetz President of the USVI Olympic Committee was able to take time out from LOCOG meetings to come and watch some training on friend Jaci Elsey's horse, Gunner, recently. April has been a crazy month - hectic with two visits to Belgium including an international competition - looking at possible horses - meeting up with Hans (see above) and dealing with the next round of requirements from - this time - LOCOG. BUT who cares because on the 10th April we found out that our 'bipartite' entry had been accepted and we were guaranteed a place in London!!!!! Hearing the news while I was away in Belgium was odd - not able to immediately celebrate with friends and family I was nonetheless surrounded by well wishers from all different countries - some of whom no doubt a little jealous that I knew I would be there and they were still dealing with the various selection requirements of their own countries. Really the news has completely over shadowed anything else. I had a great time in Moorsele riding Star Light and wished he was in England for me to continue riding as although not especially competitive in our results there was lots more to come and he was a willing and expressive horse that the judges obviously liked! And despite what he was like at home - spooky! - he did not turn a hair at the competition - which is a very spooky venue - instead lapping up the atmosphere and if nothing else the experiences I have had over the last 6 months or so confirmed my belief that a sensible brain will be very important in the huge atmosphere that is going to be at Greenwich in the summer. Sounds obvious but after years of trying to keep a lid on my little Brodie's panic button I maybe lost sight of that. SO more news soon on horses, competitions and everything else that is spinning around in my head... next on my to do list - to get some local press & media coverage! I maybe have forgotten some things this month but - I am just soooo excited!
